Yay, Goodwill Haul!

On Sunday I finally checked out the Goodwill that’s by my new place…and it didn’t disappoint!

It was by far the nicest Goodwill I’ve ever been to…everything was super organized, and the items were in great condition!

From top left (clockwise), is a vintage 2 piece outfit by Diane Freis. I know it’s super tacky and obnoxious, but it’s amazing. I don’t intend to wear both pieces together (because it’s too pink and floral…yes, even for me).

My Jason Wu for Target finds seem to never end, so of course I found the long sleeve blush blouse for only $5. Paired with it is a vintage floral maxi skirt. I love the peasant look of this outfit.

I found this super soft and comfy H&M pointelle wrap around cardigan. I don’t think it had ever been worn; there were no snags or pilling that normally happens with used sweaters, so this was an awesome find!

Since my love for cardigans is unyielding, I couldn’t resist this amazing brand new J. Crew cardi! It’s so perfectly summer and fun. I love it so much I’ve already worn it this week!

Cardigan: J. Crew
Top: Liberty London for Target
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: DvF for Gap Kids Espadrilles

My last find is the lovely Oscar de la Renta Pink Label chemise (for only $5!). Obviously I have no other use for this, other than to feel feminine and pretty, but for the price, I couldn’t resist.

These were, of course, just fashion finds…I found a couple of great brand new salvaged Target items for home, like a wine bottle rack, and bathroom storage stand. It was a hugely successful Goodwill run!

Until next time, stay fabulous (and thrifty)!

Review - The Webster at Target

Last week I posted about my purchases from The Shops at Target, The Webster. After patiently waiting for UPS to send over the goods, here is my review!

As a recap, I purchased the nautical striped flats with a pink cap toe and the pink espadrille wedge.

I purchased both in a 6.5 which they feel true to size. The flats are a little tight, but I think they will break in after some wear. I wore the wedges this past weekend in Vegas and was able to survive 5 hours of standing/dancing before having to switch to sandals. I received compliments all night! Be warned, they are made of canvas, so be sure to scotch guard them!

Next up, the deco sheath dress. I purchased petite version online, but decided to try on the regular in store. It turned out that the regular fit great as well, so I purchased that, and waited for the petite to arrive to compare. For reference, I’m 5’2”, and the bottom of the [regular] dress was still 2 inches above the knee. The petite finally arrived, and my conclusion was that it was a teeny bit shorter, but noticeably more tight. I decided that it didn’t do flattering things to my arms, so I returned it.

My last pickup is the faux wrap dress in pink. The fabric is a polyester (sort of a soft raincoat), but the fabric was lovely. There were several unfortunate aspects about this dress:

  • The fit: It was super boxy and was unflattering in all the wrong places. Even with a smocked/elastic waist and sash, I still couldn’t get it tight enough to give me any kind of figure.
  • The sleeves: You can ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that I’m a huge fan of puffed sleeves…but not these. They were so big (like 80s big), that they made me look like a linebacker…additionally, the arm holes were so small, that if I sized down, there would be no way I could fit my arms through.
I’m sad to admit that this dress had to go back. I really wanted to love it, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
I do have one picture of me wearing this thing, but I was makeupless and looked generally terrible, so I will spare you guys the horror and just post the product image:

The Verdict: Overall, I’m SUPER happy with the shoes and the deco dress [in regular]. The plaid dress was a fail, and I think most folks will agree that the fit is just dreadful. Maybe on clearance it will be a worthwhile purchase (then tear the sleeves off afterwards!). I think it would be really adorable as a sleeveless sun dress.

WARPAINT Sale!

Hot Topic is having a huge sale, which also includes some highly discounted WARPAINT items! I’ve never used the brand personally, but at these prices, they may be worth a try!

Collaboration - The Shops at Target, The Webster!

Last month I posted about The Webster at Target collaboration for the store’s newest concept, The Shops at Target

Yesterday The Shops finally arrived, but not with a bang. There was no insanity surrounding the launch like past collabs (*ahem*Missoni, Jason Wu*ahem). The items were quietly added to Target.com, and to everyone’s surprise, the site didn’t crash or sell out of items (even as of now all the items are still available in many, if not all sizes).

At midnight sharp, the first thing I search for are the online exclusive shoes! I picked up not one, but two shoes (because I can’t resist). First was the adorable nautical striped flats with a pink cap toe. Perfect for my pink cropped trousers! And not to overshadow my love of wedges, I also pick up the pink espadrille wedge.

Ever since the lookbook was released, I knew I had to pick up the deco sheath dress. Being vertically challenged, I decided to go for the petite version. However, when I went to the store the next day, I decided to try on the regular length, and that turned out to fit perfectly! For reference, I’m 5’2”, and the bottom of the dress was still 2 inches above the knee; I’m still waiting for the petite one to arrive in the mail, but just keep the length in mind if you’re on the fence!

My last pickup is the faux wrap dress in pink. I love the color-blocking and the puffed sleeves. Perfect for spring and summer!

Runners up were the blazer in navy and coral. They are really lovely and well structured, but I couldn’t rationalize the $50 price tag for them.

I would say overall, I was not in love with this collab in comparison to the other Shops offerings. CosBar has lovely cosmetics that make great gifts for others (and yourself!). The Polka Dog Bakery items were fun and well made, Privet House items were gorgeous, rustic and classic, and The Candy Store lollipops looked too pretty to eat (although a tad overpriced).

And of course, Target couldn’t go another day without already revealing one of the next boutiques to be featured for round 2 of The Shops (September 2012): Kirna Zabête! Read more about it here.

Did you pick anything up from The Shops? Tell me about it in the comments below!

Collaboration Alert! Liberty of London x Dr. Martens

The darling British label Liberty of London will be collaborating with Dr. Martens and releasing a collection of floral printed shoes and satchels! I have difficulty with patterned shoes, but I am definitely drooling over these lovely bags.

It appears that we won’t be seeing this on our side of the pond until June 1st, so until then, here is a preview of what we can expect to see!
